The University of Nebraska provides network connectivity service through Wi-Fi (Wireless) and wired connections to University resources and the internet. Secure access is available to guests, students, faculty, staff, and affiliates.

Wired network connections are recommended for University of Nebraska students, faculty, and staff when they primarily work from a single location or need consistent high-speed access. An active Campus Identity is required for a wired connection.

Getting Started

Personal & Non-Managed University Computers

When you connect a personal desktop or laptop computer by wire (Ethernet) to the network, the device will receive basic internet access. With internet service, you can access the NU-Guest Login portal to download the Wired Network Configuration Utility. After completing setup, the device will automatically authenticate to the network until you update or reset your Campus Identity password.

Managed University Computers

University desktops and laptops enrolled in Endpoint Management (Active Directory, SCCM, or Jamf Pro) receive the required 802.1x configuration settings that will support wired network authentication. Authentication may occur transparently during login or with a user prompt.

IoT Devices

Wired IoT devices such as game consoles and printers that have been profiled by ITS will automatically connect to the network without a Campus Identity. Wireless IoT devices will need to connect to the NU-IoT Wi-Fi SSID.
